We are a non-profit charitable volunteer organization committed to fostering, developing, promoting, programming, and showcasing a wide range of cultural activities in the visual, performing, and literary arts and crafts. We have taken an over one hundred year old building and turned it into a cultural centre for the arts.
In 2011, the work began with much appreciated community support to restore this historical building and to repurpose its potential for future use. Several generations attended the school and now present and future generations enjoy this special place as a versatile community space.
Today we enjoy a wide range of activities in the QVCA – painting, pottery, music, yoga, classes, meetings, family celebrations and more. It is the home of Valley Dance and the Music Festival for their classes and activities, as well as a sought after venue for the Home Routes Concert Tour.
The work continues to maintain and upgrade the building as needed. In the 113th year of this structure, we balance the responsibility to maintain the heritage and character with today’s function and use. Community support will also be needed to ensure future generations benefit from this unique place.
Come see this architectural landmark that has evolved into a community gathering place – your space, your place.
QVCA is situated on Treaty 4 territory, the traditional lands and meeting grounds of the Cree, Saulteaux, bands of Ojibwa peoples, Dakota, Lakota, Nakota and the Metis Nation; those whose footsteps that have marked these lands for centuries.
